NASA astronaut posts video of northern lights from space

(NBC, KYMA) - NASA astronaut Zena Cardman posted a video of the northern lights that could be seen from aboard the International Space Station (ISS) last week.

Footage captured shows the stunning spectacle of green light shining over the United States.

Cardman, who is currently aboard the ISS, posted the video on November 17. She called it "a frequent show" in space, but admitted she hasn't seen them from the ground yet.

Last week, the aurora borealis was visible across midwestern U.S., with people flocking to their backyards after dark to catch a glimpse.

In the video, there were a glimpse of some lightning storms over South America as the sun began to rise over Earth.
