Two people escape small plane crash in Mesa without injury

MESA, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Two people escaped a small plane crash in Mesa Monday morning without injury.

The pilot of the Piper aircraft attempted to land on a canal path after experiencing engine trouble.

The plane struck a cement block wall, and damaged pool equipment. Police say the pool equipment had a gas line, but no evacuations were needed.

The plane reportedly belongs to a small flight school.
