Cooler, wetter pattern returns for this week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - A series of Pacific storm systems will bring a noticeable change to the weather across Yuma and Imperial Counties this week, with cooler temperatures and several chances for rain.

The next disturbance moves in Tuesday, bringing increasing clouds and the best chance for rain between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

Most spots in the lower deserts are likely to see light showers, but a few pockets of moderate rainfall are possible. Thunderstorms aren’t likely, but a rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out.

Additional rain chances may return late in the week as another Pacific system approaches, though the exact track is still uncertain. Right now, Friday and Saturday look like the next window for possible showers.

Highs will run close to 10 degrees below average through midweek. Many areas in Yuma and Imperial Counties may only reach the mid to upper 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows drop into the 50s.

This cooler pattern sticks around through the weekend. Breezes will stay mostly light, although occasional gusts around 20 mph are possible as systems move through.
