FIRST ALERT: Big storm system to bring showers Friday-Saturday

Tracking a strong cold weather system that will bring chillier temperatures, stronger winds, and widespread rain Friday-Saturday to the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Head up Desert Southwest significant changes are on the way, which will trigger a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day Friday-Saturday.

Tracking widespread showers where heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and flooding could be possible.

I am tracking a low-pressure and cold weather system that will continue to work its way from the Pacific and is expected to arrive in the Desert Southwest by Friday.

This system is expected to bring colder temperatures, breezier conditions, and rain showers to our area.

Right now rain chances is looking between a 20-70% chance for Yuma and the wettest day will be on Saturday.

On our futuretrack, we could start to see rain coming in Friday night. It's looking to be light and little spotty and scattered.

More widespread rain and the wettest day with heavier rainfall will be on Saturday morning through Saturday night.

Moderate to heavy rain will be possible along with slight chances for thunderstorms to develop.

Rain totals between Friday and early Sunday morning as of right now are still uncertain, but numbers are reading a tenth and up to a half of an inch.

These are just estimates it could e more or less, but this still gives you an idea which areas will see the most rain.

Weather Authority First Alert Action Days are issued for Friday-Saturday due to the active showers.

Also, get your sweaters and jackets ready because we have chillier temperatures on the way. We can have daytime highs dip into the upper 60s with lows in the upper 40s next week.
