Death toll rises to 14 after a UPS plane crashed near Louisville airport
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NBC, KYMA) - Another victim recovered in Tuesday's deadly UPS cargo plane crash in Louisville, Kentucky brings the death toll to 14 now, a death toll that is still expected to rise.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed the news on social media late Friday.
Three UPS crew members who were on the plane have been identified as among the dead, along with a still unknown number on the ground.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, during which the plane's left engine detached after blasting a plume of fire from the left wing.
The crews searching the half-mile of charred debris found the remains of the 14th victim Friday, and eight others believed to have been near the scene of the crash are still missing.
