Diane Ladd, Oscar-nominated actor, dies at 89
(NBC, KYMA) - Actress Diane Ladd, a three-time Academy Award nominee, has passed away at the age of 89.
Ladd's death was announced Monday by daughter and Oscar-winning actress Laura Dern, who issued a statement saying her mother and occasional co-star had died at her home in Ojai, California.
Dern wrote, "My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning."
Dern also shared, "She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created. We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now."
In a screen career spanning more than 60 years, Ladd portrayed an eclectic gallery of characters with Best Supporting nod roles in "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," and "Wild at Heart."
She also received an Oscar nomination for her work in "Rambling Rose," which co-starred her daughter. The first mother-daughter duo nominated for Oscars in the same year.
