Monday marks 11 years since opening of One World Trade Center

(CBS, KYMA) - On November 3, 2014, New York City's One World Trade Center (WTC) officially opened 13 years after the September 11 attacks.

A few months later, the One World Observatory opened to visitors and tourists on May 29, 2015.

One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the seventh-tallest in the world. The building has 94 stories, with the top floor numbered 104.

Although originally called "Freedom Tower" in the original planning stages, in March of 2009 the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) confirmed that the building would be officially known by its legal name of "One World Trade Center," which was the original name of the North Tower of the original Twin Towers of the World Trader Cetner destroyed in the 9/11 attacks.

One WTC now sits at the site of the former 6 World Trade Center.
