Gila Ridge dominates Cibola in straight sets

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks continued their impressive run Tuesday night, sweeping rival Cibola in straight sets to move to 21-9 on the season.

Cibola came in at 2-11 but fought hard early, keeping the first set close behind strong play from Leona Faulks, who delivered a clean corner kill off a setup from Brayleigh Stuebs.

Still, the Hawks took control late, closing out the first set 25-14 with a smooth assist from Kammilah Villasenor to Ashley Langford.

Gila Ridge came out dominant in the second set, with Adriana Garcia feeding Aubrie Wright to spark a 15-0 run that broke the match open.

Addison Wright added to the momentum with a few powerful kills as the Hawks continued to roll.

The Raiders showed fight again through Brayleigh Stuebs, who kept her team's energy alive with another but it wasn’t enough.

Gila Ridge closed out the sweep to improve to 21-9 overall and remain in first place in the 6A Desert Southwest region, in the hunt for a spot in the postseason.
