U.S. Secret Service finds suspicious hunting stand near Palm Beach International Airport
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (NBC, KYMA) - A hunting stand with a direct line of sight to where President Donald Trump exits Air Force One was found in Florida last week.
The U.S. Secret Service said, in a statement, it was found Thursday near Palm Beach International Airport about 200 yards from where private planes park, including the president's, according to a senior official.
The stand was found during advance security preparations before President Trump's arrival on Friday.
The agency said no individuals were present or involved at the location, and there has been no connection made to any person as of yet.
Investigators are looking into several possibilities, including if the perch was an old hunting stand and not used anymore, it was used by a photographer or plane "buff" to take pictures of aircrafts, or it was a possible threat.
The FBI is now leading the investigation and, as a precaution, are looking into possible ties to Ryan Routh or anyone else who may want to harm Trump.
Fox News was first to report this information.
