AWC women’s soccer advances to 10-0

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Arizona Western Lady Matadors continued their dominant season Tuesday night, cruising to a 5-0 victory over Cochise College at Matador Soccer Field to remain undefeated at 10-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

AWC set the tone early, with Kei Yoneda finding the back of the net in the 30th minute off a feed from Linka Ono.

Just before halftime, Kiana Knudson doubled the lead on an unassisted strike, then scored again in the 52nd minute to make it 3-0 and all but seal the match.

Kanon Ozaki and Reina Kasano added goals late in the second half to cap the scoring for the Matadors, who fired 21 total shots compared to just eight for Cochise.

Goalkeeper Iyan Hernandez recorded the shutout, stopping both shots she faced in 90 minutes of play.

Arizona Western will look to keep its perfect record intact when it returns to the pitch later this week, continuing its push toward a conference title and postseason run.
