FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking Tropical Storm Priscilla to bring showers to the Desert Southwest

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect due to remnants from Tropical Storm Priscilla bringing showers and flooding risks to the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION DAY is in effect for the active showers and possible flooding for Thursday and Friday for the Desert Southwest.

Priscilla continues to weaken and remains a tropical storm for now. We are expected to get the remnants from the storm today and even through the weekend.

A Flood WATCH is in effect through midnight Saturday for the Desert Southwest.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. Remember to TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN.

We could see some spotty showers this evening and tonight, but the best opportunities to see more scattered and widespread showers is on Friday. Take a look below.

Rain totals for our area are looking a tenth to a quarter of an inch, with higher amounts in thunderstorms. However, it's being forecasted that rain totals on the high end could range 1.00-2.00".

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day will stay in place through Friday for the Desert Southwest with slight rain chances for Saturday.

We will have more sunshine and cooler temperatures to look forward to next week. We will have highs in the low 80s and overnight lows in the low and upper 50s next week.

We have a newly developed tropical storm named Raymond that formed in the Eastern Pacific this afternoon. I will be keeping a close eye on this. It may bring additional moisture to some areas in the southwestern parts of the U.S. This is the 17th named storm of the  2025 Eastern Pacific Hurricane season.
