(NBC, KYMA) - Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) says he'll sue the Trump Administration after it federalized 300 California National Guard troops and deployed them to Oregon.
The announcement comes just one day after a federal judge temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's attempt to deploy Oregon's National Guard troops to Portland.
In a statement, Governor Newsom pledged to fight the move in court, with the governor writing the Guardsmen are on their way now and called the deployment "a breathtaking abuse of the law and power."
A statement from the White House confirms the movement of California National Guard troops to Oregon.
Oregon Governor Tina Kotek also confirms more than 100 California National Guard members arrived in her state Saturday night and says more are on the way Sunday.
President Trump has clashed repeatedly with Democratic governors and mayors over his moves to deploy National Guard troops across the country.
The administration filed a motion for an emergency stay of National Guard troops in Oregon through the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Sunday evening.
