Taylor Swift releases 12th album ‘Life of a Showgirl’

LOS ANGELES (CBS, KYMA) - Taylor Swift says she has never been so excited over the release of an album as her 12th studio album, "Life of a Showgirl," dropped at midnight Friday, and many of her fans couldn't be more excited about it.

"The album is out and I have such uncomplicated feelings of joy about it," Swift expressed.

The curtain is up for Swift's hotly-anticipated 12th album, "The Life of a Showgirl."

"Never been so excited about an album coming out. And I think part of it is maybe the fact that usually when you put out an album, you made it like a year before. So your life can change a lot between when you make it and when you put it out. But with this album, it's exactly where I'm at in my life," Swift shared.

The reviews are mixed, but Rolling Stone gave it a rare five stars, complimenting the "exciting sonic turns" and "incisive storytelling" as those stories focusing less on heartbreak and seemingly more on her now-fiancee, Kansas City Chiefs star player Travis Kelce.

"This person came into my life and everybody's like 'You've never been so you,' and I think that comes through in music," Swift explained.

Fans went wild on social media, counting down to the midnight release, and a pop-up event in New York City Thursday had fans lining up for hours.

"It's a new chapter for her. I'm so happy for her," said one Swift fan.

But that's not all. Only in theaters this weekend, there is a movie titled, "Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl."

It will feature the first music video and her favorite song on the album.

"I think it might be 'Wishlist.' It was the song where, like after we finished it, I was like, 'Oh, we're done," Swift remarked.
