Normal temps round out week before cooldown
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - After a steady warming trend this week, temperatures will peak Thursday afternoon with a few spots across the lower deserts climbing into the triple digits.
A shift arrives Friday as a Pacific low brushes through the Desert Southwest, bringing breezy to locally windy conditions and slightly cooler weather.
Gusts between 20 and 30 miles per hour are expected in most areas, with stronger winds possible in southwestern Imperial County, where a Wind Advisory is in effect.
By Saturday, a Pacific cold front will push through northern Arizona, ushering in a more noticeable cool-down. Highs in the Yuma area will dip into the upper 80s and low 90s, a welcome break from the early October heat.
Looking ahead, dry conditions will continue through the first half of next week with morning lows in the 60s before gradually warming back toward the 70s by midweek.
Afternoon highs will also rebound, climbing from the upper 80s on Sunday into the mid-to-upper 90s by Wednesday.
The stretch of calmer, drier fall weather will provide comfortable mornings and warm afternoons, typical for early October in the Desert Southwest.
