Brawl breaks out after high school soccer game in New Jersey
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBS, KYMA) - Tensions spilled over at a high school soccer game in Jersey City Saturday, with a brawl erupting in lieu of the customary post-match team handshake.
Footage from Hudson County Athletics Show shows players fighting after the game between St Benedict’s Prep and St Peter's Prep. The fighting began before the teams could engage in the post-match handshake, NJ Advance Media reported.
NJ Advance Media said one of their photographers, Tom Horak, was grabbed by the throat by one player, Amadou Hann.
At one point in the footage, Hann, wearing number 9 and with a yellow armband, can be seen sprinting away from the brawl. Shortly after, other players follow.
Further footage seen by Storyful shows Hann running toward Horak and grabbing him before Horak deescalates the situation.
Horak told NJ Advance Media Hann demanded he delete the photos taken of the fighting.
