Pew Research survey says one in five Americans get news on TikTok

(CNN, KYMA) - TikTok apparently isn't only for teenagers to make and watch short dance videos. It's also increasingly where many Americans get their news.

A Pew Research Center survey finds a fifth of U.S. adults now get their news on a regular basis from TikTok. That's up from only 3% in 2020.

For young adults under 30 years of age, 43% turn to TikTok for news. That's more than four times the number of people from five years ago.

Roughly a quarter of people from 30 and 50 say they mainly get their news from the platform.

Pew Research finds over the past five years, TikTok has seen the biggest boost in news consumption over all other social media platforms.
