FIRST ALERT: Tracking cool temperatures with showers and storms this weekend

An area of low pressure is bringing in cooler-than-normal temperatures, but also higher humidity. There are chances for showers and thunderstorms for Saturday.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Friday, it's feeling like fall Friday! Nice and cool temperatures took over this afternoon as we had highs in the low 90s, which is cooler than normal for late September and way cooler than what we felt this week.

It's National Pancake Day! We have a nice evening with calmer winds and cool temperatures. It will be slightly humid with dew points in the 50s. So go enjoy a nice stack of pancakes for dinner. We could also see storms or showers pop up later in the evening. I will keep an eye out for that.

An area of low pressure is here, which is the reason for the cooler temperatures, but it will also bring in higher moisture, leading to rain and storm potential later this weekend.

Tracking scattered showers and possible storms for the Desert Southwest starting Saturday morning through Saturday evening. The best chance will be Saturday afternoon and evening.

Rain accumulation is looking light for some, with totals between a tenth and up to a half of an inch. Heavier rainfall is favoring the far east. If any thunderstorms develop, higher amounts are possible.

A Flood WATCH is issued and will go into effect at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday for pretty much all of the Desert Southwest except parts of Imperial County.

Temperatures will be in the upper 80s Saturday, and then we will continue to stay in the low 90s through early next week.

Overnight lows are looking fantastic as we will be in the mid to low 70s, and even some upper 60s for some. But keep in mind that with the extra humidity, it will feel a little sticky.

A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION Day is issued due to rain and storms for Saturday afternoon/evening. It's important for us to be ready and alert if any heavy rain does take place.

We will have clearer, drier, and warmer temperatures moving back in to kick off the month of October. Plenty of sunshine and seasonable daytime highs will be in the forecast for Tacos and Tunes next weekend.
