Tracking cooling temperatures and increasing rain chances

An area of low pressure will move in, bringing cooler-than-normal temperatures, but keeping the humidity. There are chances for showers and thunderstorms possible later this week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - We have breezier conditions with us Thursday. Winds will stay breezy through tonight as we have winds coming from the west with gusts of 20-30 MPH.

Stronger winds and dust will favor in Imperial County.

An area of low pressure continues to move in, bringing a nice cooldown, but also more moisture, leading to rain and storm potential later this week and into the weekend.

The greatest chance for scattered showers and storms for the Desert Southwest is looking Saturday morning through Saturday evening.

Rain accumulation is looking light with totals between a tenth of an inch or less. Heavier rainfall is favoring the far east. I will keep tracking and bring more updates as we get closer.

Thankfully, temperatures will take a big dip with highs in the low 90s and overnight lows in the mid to low 70s. Temperatures will be great, but with the humidity is sticking around, so it won't feel any cooler.

As mentioned before, rain chances are possible on Saturday. Then we will have clearer, drier, and warmer temperatures moving back in to kick off the month of October.

Month-to-Date Rain Check: With the multiple days of rain this month, our monthly rain total for Yuma is looking good, and we have accumulated 1.02" just from this month. We are ahead of our monthly average by 0.43", and our monthly average is a little over a half an inch. This is great news and we are ahead for the month.
