President Trump says Republicans will stage midterm convention next year

(NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump announced the Republican party will stage a midterm convention next year.

In a social media post Tuesday, President Trump said the convention will "show the great things we have done since the presidential election of 2024." He added, "It will be quite the event, and very exciting!"

The post did not say when the convention will take place or where.

Democrats are reportedly also considering a midterm convention.

Both parties traditionally hold conventions every four years to nominate a presidential candidate.
