FIRST ALERT: Tracking tropical moisture to bring in high humidity and rain chances
Remnants from Tropical Storm Mario are expected to bring noticeably humid conditions and a chance for showers and storms to the Desert Southwest starting Wednesday.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA)- Today, I have the Desert Southwest under a Weather Authority First Alert to prepare us for future rain still on the way from tropical moisture.
TRACKING MARIO: Mario continues to swirl in the Pacific and is back to a tropical depression as Mario continues to weaken. Mario will make landfall in the ocean and is still moving northward, which is expected to steer a surge of moisture to the Desert Southwest.

With this moisture, it will feel very muggy and sticky with dew points in the 60s and 70s for the rest of the week. Take a look at our future track dew points below for the next 48 hours.

Rain chances will be possible starting on Wednesday, with the greatest chance across the Desert Southwest favoring Thursday.

Showers are looking to begin after 11 a.m. Wednesday, with more chances in the late evening.
On-and-off activity is expected to continue through Thursday and into Friday morning.

Rain totals right now are looking between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Higher amounts will come from thunderstorms.

With the help of this moisture, temperatures will cool slightly below normal throughout the rest of the week, but it will feel very humid and sticky.
Rain chances and thunderstorms will also be possible for the remainder of the week, which is why I am issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day for Wednesday-Friday as we may need to take action and be alert for any storms and potential flooding.
Warmer and drier weather will return to kick off the first day of fall, with a warming trend taking over later next week. We may see highs nearing that 110 mark by the middle of next week.
