California man charged in dating app murders

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A Southern California man is accused of murdering two men and attempting to kill a third after meeting them on an online dating app.

Rockim Prowell has been charged with murdering the two men in 2021 and 2023.

He's also charged with attempted murder after prosecutors say he met a third man earlier this year through the same app. In that case, the alleged victim survived.

Prosecutors say Prowell bound the victim, stole his wallet, and beat him with a baseball bat.

The victim escaped, but the suspect is accused of chasing the man in a vehicle, striking him, and breaking his leg.

Prowell was arrested last week. He did not enter a plea in court on Monday and is being held without bail.
