CAUGHT ON CAMERA: IDF destroys building in Gaza City
(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out strikes which demolished a multi-story al-Ruya building in Gaza City Sunday, and claimed the building was being used by Hamas for intelligence gathering and as an observation point.
The IDF, which did not release any evidence for its claims, issued warnings a day before the attack and again in the hours preceding the strikes, telling people to evacuate the tower as well as tents for displaced people located next to the building, which was located in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in the city’s southwest.
A spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense, Mahmoud Basal, said the tower was one of more than 50 buildings in Gaza destroyed by Israeli forces since dawn on Sunday.
Another 100 buildings were damaged and more than 200 tents were destroyed due to the bombing of neighboring buildings, he said.
"Civil Defense teams are exhausted due to the intensity of the continuous targeting of the city. Today is one of the most difficult days of the war since it resumed on March 18," said Basal.
