CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Dust storm blocks out Phoenix skyline

PHOENIX (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A dust storm swept across Phoenix Monday afternoon around 5:30 p.m.

A dust storm warning was in effect until 6:30 p.m. as a dust wall of six miles in length was spotted moving southwest at 20 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH possible, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Dangerous life-threatening travel conditions were in effect across multiple roadways including portions of Interstates 8 and 10, according to the NWS.

A ground stop was ordered at Phoenix-Sky Harbor International Airport.
