Two men arrested after journalist assaulted in Mexicali
MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - A journalist was the victim of an attack in Mexicali.
Journalist Jorge Heras saw two people pretending to clean outside the house where he produces his newscast, then the two people repeatedly beat Heras when he arrived.
According to the journalist, individuals called him, but when he didn't understand, he leaned closer. One of them punched him in the nose. Heras fell, and they continued beating him, but a woman in a vehicle prevented the attack from continuing.
Heras filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office.
A municipal police officer was arrested, he is involved in the assault of a journalist in Mexicali.
The officer, identified as Hugo Alfredo, was assigned as a bodyguard. His brother was also arrested for allegedly helping the two attackers escape, who remain at large.
Surveillance cameras in the City helped track the vehicle involved.
Authorities found weapons in the house that did not match those issued to police officers.
For its part, the Network of Journalists in Baja California condemned the incident and demanded justice from both Governor Marina del Pilar and Prosecutor MarÃa Elena Andrade.
