Rangers in California remove marijuana plants from national park

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - National Park Service (NPS) rangers removed an illegal marijuana cultivation site in Sequoia National Park.

NPS says it confiscated more than 2,000 full-grown marijuana plants.

The 13-acre area also contained hazardous chemicals, including a toxic insecticide that is banned in the U.S.

NPS first raided the site in 2024, but it was not rehabilitated until now because of the hazardous chemicals.

NPS says the protected land was damaged and the natural flow of water has been diverted.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation is still ongoing.
