Shooting in Kentucky causes panic during a high school football game

MAYFIELD, Ky. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Panic was sparked in Mayfield, Kentucky, after a shooting during a high school football game left one person injured on Friday, August 22.

Jason Burkeen with Red Helmet Sports Network was live-streaming the Battle of the Birds match between the Mayfield Cardinals and the Graves County Eagles on YouTube when a gunshot rang out.

Chaos swiftly ensued, with players running from the field and spectators fleeing the stands.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office confirmed one person was injured as a result of a gunshot.

Anyone with information was urged to contact the Mayfield Police Department as it launched an investigation into the incident.

Graves County Schools said all students were safe and accounted for.
