Moderate temps and possible storm chances coming
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) -Â Moisture is on the increase across the Desert Southwest, bringing better chances for showers and thunderstorms through the end of the week.
For Yuma and Imperial Counties, the greatest impacts will come from gusty outflow winds, blowing dust, and dangerous lightning rather than widespread rainfall.
Storm activity is most likely during the late afternoon and evening hours, with winds potentially topping 35 mph in localized outflow bursts. Blowing dust could briefly reduce visibility, especially along I-8 and other open desert roadways.
Temperatures will gradually ease from the extreme heat, with highs near seasonal averages, around 104° to 106° by Friday.
Humidity will also tick up, making it feel muggier than recent days. Rain chances taper off this weekend as drier air moves in from the west, but isolated storms could still develop Friday before the drying trend sets in.
While rain totals in Yuma and Imperial Valleys are expected to be light, residents should remain alert for sudden wind shifts, dust storms, and lightning.
