Extreme heat extended through Wednesday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma and Imperial Counties remain under an Extreme Heat Warning through Wednesday evening, with high temperatures between 110 and 114 degree.

Overnight lows will also stay warm, only dropping into the upper 80s.

While conditions are mostly dry for now, humidity is expected to rise later this week, increasing the chance of isolated thunderstorms, especially Thursday into Friday.

Storm chances remain low in the lower desert, but gusty outflow winds could impact the region.

Temperatures will start trending downward by Friday, with highs closer to seasonal averages in the low 100s.

Still, dangerous heat is expected until then, so limit time outdoors, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
