Awning collapses and blocks entrance to subway station in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Officials closed the subway station on Clark Street in Brooklyn, New York, after an awning collapsed and blocked the entrance to the station Sunday.

The overhang is approximately 10 feet by 20 feet, reports said, and collapsed shortly after 7:00 a.m. Eastern.

New York Fire Department crews cordoned off the area as the Department of Buildings began an investigation.

The MTA said the 2 and 3 trains are not stopping at Clark Street as a result of the collapse, advising commuters to board trains at Borough Hall as an alternative.

Footage captured by Prasant Lokinendi shows caution tape around the collapsed awning.
