Tuesday marks National Chicken Wing Day

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Get your sauces ready, and gather a lot of napkins because Tuesday is National Chicken Wing Day, observed every year on July 29.

Mayor Stan Makowski of Buffalo, New York, started the observance back in 1977, in honor of his city's namesake dish.

Celebrating it this year should be easy, as a number of chains offer deals and promotions for National Chicken Wing Day.
