At least one dead, several others injured after Family Dollar roof collapses

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - At least one person was killed and several others were injured after the roof of a Family Dollar store collapsed in Kansas City over the weekend.

Officials responded to the scene shortly before 3:00 p.m. Central Sunday. They arrived to find part of the front facade had collapsed.

One person was reported dead on the scene. The person has been identified as a 68-year-old man.

A 50-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, where she is said to be in critical condition.

Two more people were treated on the scene and refused additional treatment.

According to officials, the fatality and all injuries occurred on the exterior of the structure.

An investigation is underway.
