(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who co-starred on the classic sitcom "The Cosby Show," has died.

Warner drowned in Costa Rica during a family vacation Sunday. Costa Rican authorities say he was pulled into the ocean by a current while swimming.

The New Jersey native, who made his acting debut at the age of nine, became a household name for his role as Bill Cosby's character's son, Theo Huxtable, from 1984 through 1992.

Warner's other acting credits include roles on "Malcolm and Eddie," "Grown-ish," and the reboot of "The Wonder Years."

In addition to acting, Warner was also involved with music, winning a Grammy in 2015 for his song, "Jesus Children."

Warner was 54-years-old.
