LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Seven people are in critical condition after a vehicle drove into a crowd in East Hollywood Saturday morning.
Officials said it happened at around 2:00 a.m. Pacific when the vehicle hit a taco cart before running into a large number of people outside a nightclub.
At least 30 people were injured, including 23 who were taken to the hospital, but there are no confirmed fatalities at this time.
"We had some soft tissue injuries, some broken bones. And so then, like, those seven that were transported, they were awake and talking at the time of transportation, but a large number of soft tissue injuries," said Captain Adam VanGerpen, Public Information Officer for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Officials said the driver of the vehicle was among those hospitalized after he suffered a gunshot wound following the crash.
They later determined he was assaulted by bystanders, and are looking for a suspect in connection to the shooting.
He is described as a Hispanic man, approximately five-feet, nine-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, bald, wearing a blue jersey and possibly armed with a silver revolver.
An investigation is ongoing.
