Dust storm sweeps through southeastern Arizona

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A large wall of dust choked parts of southeastern Arizona Sunday amid severe thunderstorm warnings and intense winds.

Air Quality Meteorologist Jeremy Smith uploaded a timelapse video to X, showing the dust storm sweeping through the Fort Huachuca area.

He said it was drone footage filmed while looking northeast from Sierra Vista.

The National Weather Service (NWS) urged drivers to "pull aside to stay alive" as the haboob approached.

According to the NWS, haboobs are caused by thunderstorm outflow winds and can drastically reduce visibility.
