Dodgers close first half with extra-innings win over Giants

MGN

SAN FRANCISCO (KYMA, KECY) - The Dodgers head into the All-Star break on a high note after pulling off a gritty 5-2 win over the Giants in 11 innings.

Freddie Freeman delivered the go-ahead bloop single in the 11th, scoring James Outman, and L.A. added two insurance runs on hits by Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages.

Starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto wrapped up his stellar first half with seven shutout innings, striking out seven.

The Dodgers led most of the way thanks to a Miguel Rojas solo shot and an RBI double from Freeman, but San Francisco tied it in the ninth with a two-run homer from Luis Matos.

Despite blowing the save, the Dodgers battled back to take the series and now enter the break with a 58-39 record and a 5.5-game lead in the National League West.
