Padres edged by Phillies 2–1 in series finale

SAN DIEGO (KYMA, KECY) - The Padres couldn't complete the sweep on Sunday, falling 2-1 to the Phillies in a game that came down to a clutch eighth-inning double from J.T. Realmuto.

Cristopher Sánchez turned in a strong start for Philadelphia, going 7 1/3 innings and holding the Padres to just one run.

San Diego starter Nick Pivetta struck out eight and allowed only an unearned run in nearly seven innings of work.

Bryce Harper scored both Phillies runs, taking advantage of two Padres errors in the first and later scoring on Realmuto's go-ahead hit.

Jose Iglesias drove in the lone run for San Diego in the sixth.

With the loss, the Padres head into the All-Star break at 52-44. They'll open a road series in Washington Friday night.
