President Trump announces 50% tariff on Brazil imports
WASHINGTON (KYMA, KECY/NBC) - President Donald Trump announced Wednesday a 50% on imports from Brazil.
The tariff comes party in retaliation for the prosecution of Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro, a longtime Trump ally.
President Trump called Bolsonaro's trial a "witch hunt that should end immediately."
An increase on Brazilian imports could impact grocery prices in the US, including coffee and orange juice.
The tariff will begin on August 1.
