Arizona woman creates tool to prevent wildfires
PHOENIX (CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A retired teacher in Arizona created a tool in hopes of preventing wildfires.
Years ago, Lynn Preble heard about a wildfire that ignited from the sparks of dragging chains, a common cause of fires in the state.
So with the help of her retired firefighter brother, she started making tow chain covers out of old fire hoses.
She says it's not foolproof, but the tool offers a chance of at least stopping the sparks of a chain dragging.
"If we do them right, it shouldn't be an issue, but obviously it doesn't happen. So hopefully this starts the conversation people taking better care of chains. If you see chains hanging super low, tell somebody," Preble expressed.
Preble donates the covers through Facebook groups and local businesses.
