Diamondbacks shut out by Royals, continue pre-break slide

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Diamondbacks may have added two more All-Stars on Sunday morning, but by nightfall, the excitement gave way to frustration.
Arizona was blanked by the Kansas City Royals 4-0 at Chase Field, finishing a rough homestand with just three wins in ten games.
The loss marked the D-backs' eighth in their last eleven outings, a skid that's dropped them to 44-46.
None of the Diamondbacks' All-Star trio Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll, or Eugenio Suarez managed a hit. Carroll struck out four times in four at-bats.
Manager Torey Lovullo has emphasized finishing strong before the break, but with seven games left and a crowded Wild Card picture, urgency is growing.
Arizona now sits four games back of the final playoff spot with four teams to leap.
The D-backs head to San Diego next, where Yu Darvish awaits in his first start of the season.
