One dead, one injured in house explosion in Detroit

DETROIT (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A house explosion in Detroit left one woman dead and one man injured Saturday.

It happened just before 3:50 p.m. Eastern on the city's east side.

Firefighters said the 46-year-old man was hospitalized with burns to the upper half of his body. Crews later found a woman in her early 40s dead inside the home.

Two neighboring homes were also heavily damaged by the explosion.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
