Child in Arizona found after wandering off into the desert

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Newly released body cam video shows the rescue of a boy lost in the Arizona desert.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) says the five-year-old wandered into the desert with his dog on June 22.

The bodycam footage shows the moment that night when deputies found the boy standing in the scrub brush.

Deputies also found that the boy's dog had stayed right by his side.

Deputies were able to track the boy down with the help of their K9 bloodhound, Piper.

The boy was found shortly before 11:00 p.m., and was quickly reunited with his family.

"We're grateful for this positive outcome and the teamwork that made it possible," MCSO said.
