Fertility clinic in Palm Springs demolished
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The Palm Springs fertility clinic damaged by a bomb in May has been demolished.
A car bomb exploded outside American Reproductive Centers last month, injuring four people and killing the suspected bomber, 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus.
Two weeks later, the clinic re-opened in new offices just across the street. From there, they can keep an eye on the future construction zone.
The clinic's medical director, Dr. Maher Abdallah, says the whole staff is looking to the future.
"It brings relief in that we're looking ahead, we're not looking at what happened before. Passing by those damaged buildings was really painful on all of us especially the staff. So seeing it all down and now we're and now we just have to rebuild it from the beginning it does bring relief and we're just looking ahead," Dr. Abdallah expressed.
Abdallah says they plan to reopen May 17, 2026, almost a year to the day after the bombing.
