Police in Michigan identifies gunman who planned a mass shooting at a church

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Police have identified the gunman who planned a mass shooting at a Michigan church Sunday.

Authorities say 31-year-old Brian Anthony Browning was shot and killed by a church security guard.

The incident happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. Eastern when officials received calls about a man wearing camouflage, a tactical vest, and pulling weapons out of his vehicle near CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne.

They say he was armed with an AR-15 style rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, and more than a dozen loaded magazines.

Investigators recovered hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

An investigation is underway.
