California residents react to U.S. striking Iranian nuclear sites

WESTWOOD, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - There are mixed reactions among Americans following President Donald Trump's decision to bomb nuclear sites in Iran.

The strikes come after more than a week of conflict between Israel and Iran.

In Westwood, California's Little Tehran community, some people say they are now scared for their family and friends that are still in Iran while others say they're grateful and have been waiting for this moment for decades.

"I have a lot Iranian friends, they are Jewish, Muslim, and they are all very excited and beyond excited, they are hopeful Iran will be liberated and they can hopefully go back to visit, their home is Los Angeles, but they have roots in Iran and see their hometown," said Joseph Goodman, a Westwood resident.

"Very sad, it's heartfelt for both sides, both Israeli civilians and Iranian civilians, the governments have always been having issues, but unfortunately people are being treated badly. It's really sad especially for us here that can't do anything about it. It's just devastating," said Ella Kheirkhahi, another Westwood resident.
