Dodgers take series while Giants trade for Devers minutes before first pitch

LOS ANGELES (KYMA, KECY) -Â The San Francisco Giants pulled off a stunner just minutes before first pitch Sunday, finalizing a trade to acquire All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers from the Red Sox in a blockbuster deal that sent starter Kyle Harrison and others to Boston.
The chaos that followed left the Giants scrambling, and the Los Angeles Dodgers took full advantage.
With Harrison scratched from the start due to the deal, San Francisco was forced to turn to long reliever Sean Hjelle against a Dodgers lineup that had already scored 11 runs the night before. The result: A 5-4 Dodgers win at Chavez Ravine to clinch the weekend series and restore a two-game lead in the National League West.
Los Angeles jumped ahead early with an Andy Pages sacrifice fly in the first and a solo homer from Tommy Edman in the second. But the real damage came in the fifth, when Pages launched a three-run home run to left after Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts singled to open the frame.
Dustin May started for the Dodgers and had a mixed outing. He gave up a two-run triple to Jung Hoo Lee in the fourth that briefly gave San Francisco a lead, but he recovered to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fifth.
May finished six innings with three strikeouts and four walks, showing enough grit to earn the win.
The Dodgers' bullpen handled the rest. Alex Vesia pitched a clean seventh, Kirby Yates worked around a run in the eighth, and Tanner Scott shut the door with a dominant ninth inning.
Pages' 13th home run of the year continues to bolster his All-Star campaign, while the Dodgers await Shohei Ohtani's long-anticipated pitching debut Monday night against the Padres.
Meanwhile, the Giants will look to reset and integrate Devers into their lineup after one of the most dramatic roster shakeups of the season.
