Jury in New York convicts Harvey Weinstein in sex assault retrial

NEW YORK (CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A New York jury returned a mixed verdict in the retrial of Harvey Weinstein Wednesday.

The former Hollywood mogul was facing charges of criminal sexual acts against three women in his Manhattan retrial.

The jury found the 73-year-old guilty on one of those charges, acquitted him on a second, and did not reach a decision on a third.

Jurors are expected to continue deliberations on the final charge on Thursday.

Weinstein was initially convicted of criminal sexual act and rape in 2020, but last year, an appeals court overturned that verdict.

The court ruled the trial judge should not have allowed testimony from accusers that did not lead to charges.

Weinstein faces a prison term of 16 years in California, where he was convicted in a separate sex crimes case.

He will reportedly go back to California following his New York case to begin serving that sentence.
