ICE agents carry out immigration operations across L.A.

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Federal agents arrested more than 40 people while conducting immigration raids and executing search warrants at multiple locations in Downtown Los Angeles Friday.

A total of four search warrants were served at three different locations in Los Angeles, according to Homeland Security Investigations.

L.A. Mayor Karen Bass visited a clothing company, whose Fashion District location was raided, saying immigration raids like Friday's rattled Los Angeles' immigration communities.

"To me when these things happen, it sows a sense of terror in the community. It's bad enough that it happened at this location, but the way this goes and spreads throughout the community, people are not sure where they are safe," Mayor Bass said.

Following the raids, community organizations gathered for protests later in the day, where approximately 500 people marched through the streets around the L.A. Federal Building, holding pro-immigrant signs and flags.

Prior to the protest, the "Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights" held a press conference and rally, where they pledged to fight back after workers were detained outside local businesses.
