Fourth case of bird flu detected at Maricopa County farm

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - Another farm in Maricopa County tested positive for Avian Influenza, commonly known as Bird Flu, according to a press release from the Arizona Department of Agriculture.

The tested sample was found on June 4 during routine surveillance.

The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention says the risk to the general public is low.

Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is working to ensure affected chicken carcasses are safely disposed of to minimize spread of infection.
