Man arrested in connection to California fertility clinic bombing
UPDATE (11:43 AM): A suspect is in custody who investigators say provided bomb making materials to the attacker in the Palm Springs fertility clinic bombing.
Prosecutors say 32-year-old Daniel Park, a Seattle resident, provided the bomber with hundreds of pounds of ammonium nitrate, a key chemical used in making a bomb.
Investigators say park and the bomber, 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, shared a dangerous 'anti-life' ideology, and they worked together leading up to the attack to formulate the explosive mix for the bomb.
"Our citizens deserve to live in a country where they feel safe. We will continue to pursue all leads. This is an ongoing, active investigation and will bring anyone involved to justice," said Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for Central District of California.
"We must strive to prevent anything like this from happening again. We want to learn everything about the ideology involved in this. We need to low everything we can on anyone that assisted this. We need to keep our community safe, as the United States attorney stated, and we do that together," said Akil Davis, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Los Angeles Field Office.
Park was detained by authorities in Poland before he was transferred to federal custody at JFK International Airport Tuesday.
He is charged with providing and attempting to provide material support to terrorists.
If convicted, Park would face a statutory maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison.
Four people were injured in the explosion, which also killed the bomber.
UPDATE (8:52 AM): Federal law enforcement officials in California are holding a press conference regarding the arrest.
