Department of Homeland Security prohibits international students from Harvard University
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A new escalation in the battle between the Trump administration and Harvard University.
The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that Harvard "can no longer enroll foreign students and existing foreign students must transfer or lose their legal status."
In ordering termination of Harvard students and student exchange program visitor certification, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem cited the university's refusal to turn over the conduct of records of foreign students requested by the DHS last month.
Noem had also accused Harvard of "fostering violence, anti-Semitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus."
This could impact more than a quarter of Harvard's student body.
